Job Purpose

National Grid IT team is currently seeking an innovative, adaptable, and results-oriented leader to lead and manage Customer Data Products within our Customer Product team as the Product Manager. This role will be responsible for managing the Customer Data product planning processes by collaborating with the business teams, Platform Engineering, Group Data & Analytics, IT Strategy, EPMO, CIO & other Engineering teams to deliver business outcomes. This role willl own the customer data products that empower businesses to deliver meaningful and personalized experiences to their customers in real time and at scale, while allowing us to lower integration costs with other applications, supporting key decisions and optimizing the customer experience. The Product Manager will incorporate digital delivery centric best in class product planning practices. This role will report to the Customer CIO within the National Grid IT organization.

Key Accountabilities

Product managers are builders that bear overall responsibility for product definition and delivery. Product managers work with design, strategy and engineering to create a compelling vision culminating with delivery of a disruptive product to market that fits customer needs. The product manager facilitates the product requirements gathering across the team, and manages the incubation/commercialization process gates and deadlines to ensure successful and hygienic delivery. Product managers are the driver of the multidisciplinary team through lean, agile-based incubation and commercialization process – e.g., Build, Learn, Adapt.

Product Managers must possess a broad base of skills and knowledge spanning digital technology, strategy and business planning, user experience design, engineering, and agile/lean development practices.  They must possess an entrepreneurial drive to develop new products while managing stakeholder needs and timeframes to broker complex relationships that evolve into real solutions. The ultimate success of a product manager hinges on their ability to guide their peers while influencing decision-makers

•    Act as the voice of the customer in the definition of innovative digital solutions
•    Work with business teams to gain an understanding of user personas, pain points and journeys
•    Provide insights into product, technology, and market trends
•    Develop feature lists, user stories, and roadmaps
•    Gather and manage product feedback through surveys, concept testing, analytics tools, and A/B testing
•    Be a champion of the MVP concept, distilling the product down to what is desirable, viable and feasible
•    Monitor and report on product KPIs
•    Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to scope, design, concept test and deliver innovative solutions
•    Assist with the development of business cases and operating plans
•    Develop materials to communicate progress to partners and clients
•    Support the Customer data Strategy setting the long-term vision and strategy for products and high value workflows, and communicate this strategy to all the relevant participants and partners.
•    Prepares and presents product planning communications for executives and stakeholders

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
•    Bachelor's degree in computer science/engineering or in related field; Master's Degree preferred
•    10+ years of professional experience in software technologies
•    Demonstrated experience working on large scale data platform and analytics offerings
•    Good understanding of digital platforms like Snowflake, Hadoop, Oracle, and data tools.
•    Excellent leadership skills with experience collaborating with cross-functional teams
•    The ability to manage time and schedules to meet aggressive deadlines and influence through persuasive written and verbal communication
•    Thorough knowledge of Agile software delivery models (Kanban, Scrum, SAFe, etc.)
•    An ability to think strategically and creatively
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both technical and non-technical discussions.  
•    Superior interpersonal and communication skills
•    The capacity for self-motivation, independent initiative and creative problem-solving
•    Diligent attention to detail and strong technical intuition
•    The ability to manage time and schedules to meet aggressive deadlines and influence through persuasive written and verbal communication
•    The capacity for self-motivation, independent initiative and creative problem-solving
•    A diligent attention to detail and strong technical intuition, as well as the ability to set and manage expectations at the executive level

Preferred Qualifications:
•    2+ years experience as a Product Manager in a technology company
•    Certified Product Manager
