National Grid is hiring a Senior Finance Business Partner for our department in Waltham, MA.

Job Purpose

To be responsible for supporting the business in delivering initiatives to time, cost and quality while challenging the prioritization of initiatives and ensuring financial benefits are realized. Provides financial performance and reporting support primarily for National Grid’s Service Company functions and areas of business responsible for delivering projects and initiatives to deliver future value.

Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for financial and performance reporting on functional and jurisdictional spend and operational costs.
  • Creates annual budgets and manages forecasting responsibilities to provide functional and jurisdictional insight and guidance.
  • Works closely with Corporate Finance and Finance Operations to incorporate data into budget proposals.
  • Work closely with appropriate functional management teams, acting as financial point of contact and deputizing for Line Manager as required.
  • Work with other Finance Business Partners to record risks and opportunities and track performance trends.
  • Own the relationship with your business stakeholders, building strong rapport and trust to achieve the credibility to enable challenging discussions around commercial performance.
  • Understand the financial challenges faced by your business leads and strategically influence them to deliver options to meet our financial targets now and in the future.
  • Effectively collaborate with your Finance colleagues to ensure provision of consistent, high quality financial information reinforced by high quality insight and financial advice, supporting the business to deliver the right financial outcomes.
  • Develop an understanding of the business context associated with value opportunities and initiatives and to translate financial and non-financial information into financial business cases.
  • Follows reporting guidelines and applies US GAAP, SOX and SEC requirements, as required.
  • Obtains sign-off on reports for business financial performance actions plans.
  • Utilizes knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SOX, SEC requirements and IFRS in analysis and scenarios.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Engineering or relevant field
  • +3 years preferred in Finance with financial forecasting and budgeting responsibility with knowledge of large energy/utility company and /or operations/functional or accounting/financial experience
  • Ability to provide business unit support by providing financial data and insights
  • Effective collaboration and partnership capabilities
  • Excellent written / oral communication skills and follow-up
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Access; SAP preferred
