National Grid is hiring a Project Assurance Specialist for our Program Assurance and Controls department in Waltham, MA.

Job Purpose

This role will plan and deliver a range of Program Assurance activities for National Grid’s portfolio of critical programs and projects. This will include preparing Program Assurance strategies, conducting portfolio assessments, project and/or program reviews (e.g. Health Checks), stage-gate assessments, and/or targeted risk assessments.

Key Accountabilities

•    Conduct activities associated with project, program, and portfolio assurance reviews; including stage-gate assessments
•    Review and analyze project/program work products and deliverables against leading practices or industry standard methodologies, e.g. PMI/PMBOK
•    Interview project/program team members and stakeholders
•    Identify project/program risks and recommend solutions or remediation actions to program leaders and business sponsors
•    Document, report and present key findings, risks, and recommendations to project and/or program leaders, Sponsors, or program level boards or steering committees
•    Coach and provide advice to program teams and Sponsors
•    Build and maintain positive relationships with program leaders and business sponsors within the organization
•    Stay abreast of and share knowledge on leading practices and industry standards related to portfolio, program and project management

Qualifications

•    Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Sciences or related areas.   Master’s degree other appropriate professional qualification(s) preferred.
•    Project management education, training, and/or certification highly desirable, e.g. Project Management Institute (PMI) or PRINCE 2 certification 
•    10+ years’ work experience managing large programs or projects in both traditional waterfall and agile environments.  Big 4 experience preferable.
•    Experience and/or significant familiarization with gas, electric, transmission, generation operations a plus
•    Strong practical knowledge and understanding of project and program management methodologies, systems and tools
•    Familiarity with audit delivery and practices, internal control frameworks and risks management activities and skill in applying internal auditing principles and practices
•    Project and program assurance experience is preferable with a proven track record for delivering audits and/or assurance within multinational utility/asset management companies or operations/functional experience from utility/assessment management companies
•    Demonstrable track record of developing successful, long lasting, relationships across the business including ability to engage, challenge and influence senior managers, deal effectively with resistance to proposals and secure their buy-in and support
•    Strong knowledge of and experience of project assurance, ideally within the utility sector
•    Experience with managing project teams, managing others and projects independently. Highly competent in Microsoft Office (e.g. Project, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word) 
•    Valid driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy
