National Grid is hiring a Leak Survey Manager for our Gas Field Operations department in Waltham, MA.

Job Purpose

Pipeline Safety laws that regulate the transporting of a combustible commodity into people space mandate through federal and state laws that utilities have proactive programs that identify pipeline gas escapes from the company Transmission and Distribution system. The Manager is responsible for managing the various mandated surveys for public/customer safety and regulatory compliance. This requires deploying an integrated and collaborative approach with various stakeholders for emergency response scheduling to maintain the daily balance of emergency and scheduled work.

Key Accountabilities

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Manage a team of 3 Supervisors and an Analyst as well as up to ~80 contractor resources and 10 contractor call center representatives during peak periods 
  • Manage a multi-million dollar budget
  • Implement the requirements of Pipeline Safety Federal and MA State Codes 
  • Evaluate and implement process improvement solutions
  • Effectively collaborate and implement surveys and surveillances to minimize disruptions to yard operations for discoveries that require emergency response
  • Manage multiple contracts through effective communication and collaboration with contractor vendor company representatives for the successful completion of services 
  • Responsible for daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reporting to internal and external stakeholders 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 7+ years of experience safely leading, motivating and inspiring a team 
  • Proven ability to work in a co-operative manner with various stakeholders with multiple objectives in a fast pace manner with high volume of transactions 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point
  • Valid driver’s license required
