Job Purpose

Reporting to the Director of Customer Data Transformation, this position is responsible for the overall strategy and management of the Data Governance function within Customer, to chair the Customer Data Governance council, to align the Master Data Governance vision with the strategic direction of the Customer Data Transformation team and to balance the interests of all Customer Transformation Programs.

Key Accountabilities

Responsibilities would include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead or participate in the various data governance committees of the organization, including preparation of detail behind requests to the committee, executing follow-up tasks assigned from the meetings, and providing education and support for data governance across the Customer domain.
  • Under the guidance of the data governance committees of the organization and management, execute the governance requirements established for all entities across the customer organization.
  • Identify data owners / stewards and work with them to establish, maintain, and distribute definitions of data elements used by analytics in conjunction with data owners throughout the organization.
  • Manage the development and implementation of governance standards, policies, processes, and data standards
  • Partner with various functional areas such as Legal, Privacy, Marketing, IT and Procurement to ensure adherence to local consumer data and privacy regulations.
  • Lead the development and implementation of governance standards, policies, processes, and data standards
  • Lead the implementation of controls and compliance metrics across the organization to reduce data issues and improve data quality and measure performance of governance activities
  • Review and refine key measurements that communicate governance performance, including KPIs, monthly achievements, project status, and issues to be addressed
  • Utilize Maturity Model Assessment to determine how well all data maintenance and governance services are being delivered, including quality, and initiate actions for improvement
  • Maintain all appropriate data governance-related records to meet internal and external audit requirements. Report on non-compliance with corporate data governance standards, policies, processes, etc. Support the execution of internal audit plans. Implement process improvements and remediation plans in a timely manner based on audit results
  • Establish and monitor KPIs for success of the Data Governance strategy
  • Foster the data governance behaviors by participating in the Data Management Community of Practice and by sharing both corporate data governance policies and industry best practices
  • Escalate and represent Data Governance activities for oversight and approval
  • Represent Data initiatives and perspective to forecast, plan, and prioritize project initiatives, major enhancements, system upgrades, continuous process improvements, and maintenance service delivery

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of service in Data Governance 
  • Knowledge of Master Data Management and Data Governance leading practices and tools
  • Excellent leadership skills and track record delivery through teams and integrating business and technology stakeholders
  • Proven ability to manage relationships and alignment with the Program Sponsors, Data Owners, Data Stewards, and Data Maintainers across Customer to implement the Data Governance Vision
