Corporate Safety Program Director

About the Position:

This role willfunction as a member of the SHE Team and is responsible for the operation ofthe Corporate Safety Department; developing, implementing and maintaining CorporateSafety programs, policies and procedures.

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):


  • Ensure a timely, accurate and effective Safety Communications program
  • Lead and develop a Fleet Safety Program with a strong focus on improving vehicle safety for employees and the public through the reduction of Road Traffic Collisions
  •  Develop, implement and maintain company-wide safety policies, procedures and manuals
  •  Effective operation of the Contractor Oversight Program, ISNetworld
  •  Maintain a quality Industrial Hygiene program that includes employee monitoring, negative exposure assessments and effective IH procedures designed to ensure the health and wellbeing of our employees
  • Work with members of the SHE organization and operations leaders to identify trends in safety performance and strategic initiatives/industry best practices to reduce incidents
  • Monitor and identify regulatory changes and implement appropriate policy and/or procedures to ensure compliance
  • Work with regulators and industry groups to help shape future regulatory changes that can impact the company
  •  Day to day operations of the corporate safety department, budget, staff assignments, and employee development.  Ensuring an effective continuously improving operation that is an integral part of the SHE organization to meet the current and future needs of our business
  •  Active participation in the SHE organizations efforts to provide quality programs and process that will support the operations as they work to achieve best in class SHE performance
  •  Strong networking and benchmarking skills which can be used to provide quality programs and process that will support the operations as they work to achieve best in class SHE performance
  • Build strong relationships with key operations leaders, unions, Learning and Development and our SHE partners in the UK to establish credibility, communication channels and training approval processes
  • An assurance program that will guide operations and SHE in the performance of audits against regulatory, state, local and company requirements”


Knowledge & Experience Required:

  •  Bachelors Degree (BS) in Safety or related field, CSP, or CIH certification
  •  Management/leadership experience (5 – 7 years).  Successfully lead a team of a technical experts
  •  Possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to appropriately challenge others at all levels
  •  Proven project management experience and expertise
  •  Advanced technical and business writing skills
  •  Clearly understands theory and can communicate/translate to others at all levels        
  • Strong ability network internally and externally
