The Assurance Analyst will support National Grid in achieving its strategic objectives by providing reasonable assurance over key controls and risk mitigating activities that the organization relies on to manage its activities. The Assurance Analyst will be responsible for a series of deliverables across the full spectrum of assurance activities, enabling senior leaders to provide assurance for their key business processes, and documenting related evidence. Among other things, the analyst will support testing controls and the managing of remediations/actions.
Assurance generally includes deliverables associated with Fraud & Bribery Risk, Enterprise Risk Management, Regulatory Compliance Obligations, Safety/Health & Wellness/Environment Plans, Internal Audits, Business Resilience & Continuity, Ethics, and overall assurance reporting.
Support and/or act as Second Line in National Grid’s Three Lines of Defense approach to risk management.
Provide support, advisory, and challenge to National Grid's First Line (the business).
Provide best practice advice and deliver training on assurance obligations relating to underlying departmental policies and procedures.
Ability to understand the key components of departmental policies and procedures without performing the procedures.
Support the development and delivery of a work plan across the year, including leading key controls testing.
Manage and coordinate the timely execution of team projects, ensuring that activities, including testing plans, are properly focused on key obligations and delivering value to the business.
Control testing and overall assurance evidence collection and documentation is delivered at a high standard and in compliance with international professional standards and good practice
Prepare and present comprehensive, clear, concise reports, maintaining objectivity and impartiality.
Manage remediation of Regulatory Compliance assurance findings.
Communicate with Manager to avoid surprises, highlight issues and ensure timely delivery.
Develop and maintain regulatory assurance processes, procedures, and frameworks.
Create and administer reporting mechanisms, KPIs, and resulting scorecards for effective regulatory compliance performance management (e.g., aggregation of local, functional, and regional performance).
Provide advice and training support on regulatory compliance management techniques and internal control design.

Enterprise Risk Champion
Business Continuity Lead / Planner
Certificate of Assurance Champion
Safety/Health/Environment Plan Coordinator/change ambassador, or comparable
Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required
Good interpersonal skills required to work with internal/external stakeholders and liaising with a wide variety of personnel, internal to the wider department (including management at all band levels and represented as appropriate) and other stakeholders, including ethics & compliance, risk, safety, emergency planning, and audit personnel.
Strong communication skills, including interpersonal, written and verbal skills, with ability to prepare and present comprehensive, clear, concise reports, maintaining objectivity and impartiality.
Demonstrated ability to counsel, coach, develop and influence others.
Experience in facilitating workshops with many colleagues, documenting actions and follow-ups.
Experience in simple project management is a plus, especially managing those not directly in the organization or reporting lines.
A Bachelor’s degree, with Business Administration, Accounting, Engineering or relevant field, a plus.
3+ years of relevant work experience, including Internal Audit, Regulatory Compliance, Risk Management, Internal Controls Assurance / Quality Assurance or similar function, in a large company (preferably Energy/Utilities).
Track record for delivery and high-quality performance.
Strong understanding of risk and regulatory compliance management, internal controls, and business processes to provide reliable assurance on the design and effectiveness of the control framework.
Demonstrable commitment to integrity and ethical values.
Enterprise Risk Management and 3 Lines of Defense experience/expertise a plus.
Technology experience, (e.g., GRC/Archer), and ability to interpret data from existing sources, a plus.
Professional certification or equivalent in relevant area, or working towards one, a plus.
