About the Graduate Development Program
National Grid’s Graduate Development Program (GDP) is an in-depth training and development program for high achieving recent college graduates who aspire to take on future leadership roles in a dynamic, ever-changing industry. Graduates are the future of National Grid. Bringing fresh thinking, new perspectives and enthusiasm to our team, we’ll give you real responsibility and an opportunity to make an impact from day one – putting the power to supercharge your career in your hands.
Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an in-depth Orientation which gives you exposure to all parts of the company, allows you to network with your Graduate cohort, GDP alumni, and senior leaders, and provides you with the opportunity to travel throughout our service territory in the northeast US. Following Orientation, Graduates begin working in their hired position and take part ongoing development activities through your first year including monthly development sessions, active mentorship, and a Capstone Project at the completion of your first year with National Grid.
National Grid is aiming for an in-person GDP experience for Summer 2022. However, we will continue to monitor the impacts of COVID-19 and will shift to a virtual program if necessary, in order to honor our commitment to our young talent pipeline.
About the Position
Drives improvements in the quality, capability, and measurement of business solutions. Responsible for supporting and leveraging technology to sustain operations, deliver reporting, data analysis, process improvement, and performance management.
Support the analysis of systems and processes across business functions within the end to end process to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for improving operational performance and self-service.
Collect and analyze data and process metrics, recommend improvements, and/or drive improvement efforts to increase productivity and customer service for Employee Services.
Provide data analysis to support delivering business results, improving service delivery, maintaining compliance and reporting.
Responsible for developing metrics, measurements, and reporting methodology to measure performance across the process.
Motivate and support the Employee Services’ team in delivering against Service Level Agreements, KPIs, and operational measures.
Acquire up-to-date information regarding industry best practices and latest technology to improve internal practices, reduce operational cost and increase operational efficiency.
Assist and coordinate work on projects by contributing to developing project standards and processes to improve project delivery within the relevant function.
Develop and maintain analytical systems, models, and procedures to support design solutions and enhance time/consistency/safety/efficiency and operability.
Challenge existing ways of working and continuously seek ways to do things better to drive greater efficiencies within assigned area.
Facilitate workshops and meetings, using cross-functional teams to undertake analysis, solve problems, drive engagement, and develop solutions to process issues.
Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required
Ability to lead and deliver improvement projects, as well as challenge and support colleagues to improve performance
Bachelor or Master’s degree from an accredited institution; preferred in Human Resources or Information Technology discipline
Preferred process methodology experience in Six Sigma, Lean Six Sigma or equivalent
Ability to see multiple relationships between data to identify root causes of a problem and develop permanent solutions to systematic issues
Graduated between May 2021 and June 2022
Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program May 31, 2022 or June 27, 2022
Valid US driver’s license
Proven leadership experience
Proficiency in MS Office/Office 365 products, including by not limited to Excel, Access, SharePoint, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills
