Job Purpose

Perform compliance and quality assurance and pipeline safety management assessments of company and contractor personnel to ensure construction, maintenance, and gas operations activities are performed in accordance with all applicable Federal and State code requirements, work methods, policies and procedures. Ensure field personnel are operator qualified (OQ), as well as can demonstrate job knowledge and competencies of the work task being performed.

Key Accountabilities

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Through field observations, compliance assessments, and quality assessments, collect, sort, and examine data in order to support the safe and reliable delivery of gas service to customers.
  • Identify deficiencies and overall pipeline safety performance trends or patterns which may adversely impact the quality and safety of operations.
  • Provide recommendations and assist in implementation of corrective actions in order to improve the quality and safety of gas operations performance.
  • Provide “on-the-job-training” and mentoring of crew personnel as needed to maintain compliance obligations and/or meet quality standards for work being performed.
  • Participate on Incident Analysis teams (IA’s) to determine root cause and identify sustainable corrective actions.
  • Provide routine performance updates at Safety Briefs to help field operations personnel increase focus on areas of pipeline safety management.
  • Research and review gas procedures and regulatory requirements to determine scenarios that might impact the company.
  • Review historical records and metrics so as to identify risk or trends of non-compliance.
  • Perform periodic quality field assessments and compliance/records reviews of the company’s mandated programs to ensure pipeline safety regulatory requirements are met.
  • Perform the Operator Qualification Performance Evaluation testing.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or educational equivalent required, Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 1+ years of gas pipeline maintenance and construction experience required
  • Valid driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy.
