Our Gridtern Program allows current college students to gain practical experience within the energy industry. Your summer will start with us on June 5th 2023 and will be filled with meaningful work experiences, professional development, networking, and opportunities to get involved in your community and have fun!

Intern responsibilities will vary based upon your area of interest and department placement. Applying to this opportunity confirms your interest in being considered for one or more of the below departments for summer 2023:

Customer Enablement Products (Northborough, MA)

Our Customer Enablement Products team is responsible for Customer's Digital Product Portfolio. The team also oversees different products such as paperless billing and budget billing, all in support of our customer’s needs. For the summer, you can expect to be responsible for customer communications, reporting on digital product adoption, preparing status updates for leadership, drafting customer strategies for product lines, developing/conceptualizing new products, and supporting customer communications during storm events.

Customer Enablement Products (Sustainability & Innovation) (Worcester, MA)

Our Customer Enablement Products (Sustainability & Innovation) team is responsible for the day-to-day operations of our Sustainability Hub. The goal of the Sustainability Hub is to elevate the conversation and community awareness about the importance of reducing emissions, promoting renewable energy, and identifying energy efficient solutions for residents and commercial businesses alike. For the summer you will work with other Gridterns within the team to interact with customers and hub visitors to conduct tours, host community events, and oversee the team’s social media efforts.

Disability, Absence Management and Drug/Alcohol Compliance (Northborough, MA)

Our Disability, Absence Management and Drug/Alcohol Compliance team oversees the company’s employee absence management process, monitors workman compensation cases, and drug and alcohol compliance under DOT and Corporate policies. For the summer you will work alongside the team in entering and maintaining data as it pertains to the company’s drug and alcohol programs. You will also oversee the creation of a tracking database to monitor employee absences and benefit balances.

Dispatch & Work Support (Northborough, MA)

Our Dispatch & Work Support team oversees the dispatching and administrative work of emergency and nonemergency assignments for our Gas Technicians across Massachusetts. Their work entails processing invoices and reviewing police details. For the summer you will work with the team to complete business plans for upcoming projects, automate processes, and complete data analytics.

NE T&D Grid Modernization Execution (Northborough, MA)

Our New England T&D Grid Modernization Execution team is working to improve our company’s current electric network and ready the grid for future challenges represented by distributed generation and electrification. The team specifically monitors risks, tracks benefits, and provides change management support. For the summer you will work with team members to develop comprehensive status reports, project updates, ongoing cost analyses, and significant issue management/resolution in addition to other projects and tasks.

Resource Management – RAM (Northborough, MA)

Our Resource Management (RAM) team is responsible for maintaining the Resource Availability Management for multiple departments throughout Massachusetts. The team works with both the Natural Gas and electric side of our company. For the summer you will be responsible for capturing and recording data and report out to key stakeholders.

What You’ll Need

  • Availability to start on program start date, June 5, 2023
  • Registered in school as a full-time student and continuing education full-time for Fall 2023 Semester
  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree
  • Majoring in Business, Marketing, Communications, Environmental, Sustainability, or a related field
  • Accumulated 18 or more credits and be 18 years of age
  • Work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States
  • Located within a commutable distance to the identified work location for the summer
  • Some Gridtern positions will require a valid US Driver’s license. This qualification will be included in the department specific Gridtern role(s) descriptions at point of interview

Salary Range

$17.00 - $23.00 an hour (Undergraduate Student)

$26.00 - $31.00 an hour (Graduate Student)

Candidates will be assessed and provided offers based on major, degree type, and class year.
