National Grid is hiring a Manager, Technical Delivery for our Digital Platforms team. This role can be based out of Waltham, MA, Brooklyn, NY, Hicksville, NY, Melville, NY, or Syracuse, NY.

Job Purpose

National Grid is currently seeking an innovative, adaptable, and results-oriented Technical Delivery Manager.  This manager will be responsible for aligning systems, processes, and people in an organization of Technical hands on developers and suppliers.   This manager will be responsible for the technical delivery of various initiatives and platforms across the Digital Platforms Organization.   The manager will need technical acumen both vertically and horizontally across all Digital Platform teams.  

You will work closely with the Digital Platform Team,  related Vendors, subject matter experts, and others to ensure delivery on the many system enhancements, integrations, automations, and technology responsibilities to Digital Platforms. This role will report to the Director of the IT Planning within the National Grid IT organization. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Work with and manage technical team as it relates to delivery of Secure & Complaint initiatives horizontally across all Digital Platform Teams
  • Works with and through Agile Product Delivery teams to ensure projects delivered on time and within budget
  • Define project scope and schedule/timeline while focusing on regular and timely delivery of value
  • Organize and lead project status and working meetings
  • Collect, prepare, and distribute progress reports to senior leadership
  • Manage risks, issues and action items and maintain project specific RAID
  • Perform delivery planning for assigned projects
  • Work with resource managers to identify and manage the required resources for various project assignment(s)
  • Leveraging organizational resources to improve capacity for project work
  • Assist in team development while holding teams accountable for their commitments, removing roadblocks to their work
  • Communication and rapport with external contractors (where applicable)
  • Support the Product Owner in managing customer expectations for project deliverables
  • Managing stakeholder communications
  • Helping to implement an effective system of project governance
  • Define and manage a well-defined project management process and champion ongoing process improvement initiatives to implement best practices for Agile Project Management
  • Promote empowerment of the team, ensure that each team member is fully engaged in the project and making a meaningful contribution
  • Develops and maintains a network of industry contacts; performs research on industry trends, competitors, business, and IT products; analyzes trends and make strategic and tactical recommendations
  • Ensures system, technical and product architectures are aligned with business objectives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in a field related to technology, such as computer science, software engineering, IT, cybersecurity, or management information systems
  • At least 7+ years of experience working in the technology industry with 5+ years in leadership role
  • Working knowledge of Service Now, Jira, Jira Align and Alfabet
  • Ability to lead technology teams globally in US, UK, and elsewhere
  • Highly developed negotiation, facilitation, and consensus building skills
  • Firm understanding of SDLC models as well as expert knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment

Balanced business/technical background:

  • Sufficient level of technical background to provide highly credible leadership to development teams and to be able to evaluate complex project risks and issues accurately and objectively
  • Ability to provide leadership to system analysts, system administration and collaborate with customers and develop strategies and solutions of high business value
  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with an ability to manage competing demands
  • Creative approach to problem-solving with the ability to focus on details while maintaining the "big picture” view
  • One or more IT Certification such as PMP, CSM, PPM, PMI-ACP
  • 3+ years' experience as Project Manager managing IT Projects from initiation to close out managing medium to large, complex projects in a high-tech development environment with multi-function team
  • 2+ years' experience with SCRUM/Agile methodologies with enterprise-level application development projects
  • 2 + years' experience using Agile Project Management tools such as Jira, Greenhopper, Rally, VersionOne or equivalent

Salary

$116,000 - $150,000 a year

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
