National Grid is hiring a Lead UAS Operations Program Manager for our Aviation department in Syracuse, NY.

Job Purpose

The Lead Program Manager will provide the leadership and technical knowledge to arrange, organize, project manage, and implement the Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) operations program within National Grid. 

Key Accountabilities

•    Lead the development and implementation of UAS operations across the various functions within National Grid that can benefit from the use of UAS in the inspection, engineering, and construction of infrastructure.  
•    Support Procurement with the management of UAS contracts.
•    Coordinate UAS operational requests between National Grid stakeholders and contractors.
•    Maintain necessary operational processes and procedures for implementation of UAS within National Grid.
•    Collaborate with internal resources in collection and development of best operational uses for UAS.
•    Stay current in technological developments in the UAS industry and implement as required.
•    Provide internal and external communications regarding UAS operations to all stakeholders.

Qualifications

•    Bachelor's degree preferred and 7+ years related work experience
•    Experience in the electric/gas utility or aviation industries.
•   7+ years of experience in general aviation field, or equivalent.
•    Knowledgeable of the Federal Aviation Regulations pertaining to company operations.
•    Highly skilled within their technical field.  Extensive and significant knowledge of one technical field or broad technical depth in multiple, related fields.
•    Work collaboratively with stakeholders including Transmission Line Inspection and Maintenance, Transmission Line Engineering, Transmission Line Asset Management, Substation O&M Services, Operations, Vegetation, Gas, Generation, Generation, Customer, Procurement, IS Data Security, and Asset Development.
•    Demonstrated ability to develop and or direct development of UAS operations training and related procedures including appropriate assessments necessary for training courses.
•    Demonstrated ability in delivery of procedures to small and large diverse audiences.
•    Demonstrates the ability to build an informed, independent opinion of UAS needs, problems and/or opportunities and develop appropriate solutions.
•    Broad knowledge of relevant industry practices, standards and legislation.
•    Ability to travel 25-50%  within NY, MA, NH and RI 

Valid driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy.
