National Grid Partners is hiring for our Innovation Team in Los Gatos, CA.

Job Purpose

Disruptive Innovation is about identifying and validating opportunities for new revenue streams or customer benefits that that do not exist today, but which if we leave for others to pursue could ultimately erode or disrupt present revenue streams across the Group. To be taken up by the CoE such opportunities must have clear and plausible economic, environmental and / or societal benefits which will be valued by both National Grid and our consumers.

This roleis specifically designed to support the delivery disruptive innovation across the US Core, UK Core & NGV businesses, coordinating efforts across the Innovation COE and ensuring processes are followed and objectives are met.

A disruptive innovation initiative may take the form of, building an ecosystem and trading platform that reduces costs for consumers by connecting them via a Peer to Peer trading platform, leveraging Distributed storage devices (batteries, busses, hydro etc) with large scale Generation (solar, wind etc) to support the transmission or distribution network in times of need.  This would allow customer to access cheaper clean energy when grid support is not required.

Key Accountabilities
  • Provide analytical support across the Innovation team.
  • Assesses market competition and landscape
  • Provide input to enable market sizing for innovation ideas
  • Generate compelling presentations that summarise the insights gained from your analysis
  • Provide support to enable innovations “deep dive” workshops
  • Provide sound analytic support that verifies major assumptions use to build innovation business cases
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors
Qualifications
  • Demonstrable and proven working experience providing analytic support to a fast-moving Innovation Team. 
  • Strong networking and influencing skills, demonstrated through a track record in current or previous roles. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • A strong track record of delivery and performance – a self-starter, confident and independent, ability to work to tight deadlines in a high pace environment.
  • A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a numerate discipline and/or significant relevant project management, is required. MBA preferred.
  • 3+ years’ experience with analytical management or equivalent.
  • Desirable - knowledge of renewable energy and transactional experience.
