National Grid is hiring a Senior Analyst for the Plant Accounting, Reporting, and FP&A team within Corporate Accounting in the US Controllership in Brooklyn, NY.

Job Purpose

The Senior Analyst is responsible for controls, analytics, financial, and regulatory reporting related to National Grid’s US Property, Plant & Equipment (PPE) within the Acquire to Retire Process.

Key Accountabilities

•    Responsible for consolidation and review of analytics, dashboards, and commentary related to financial activities across the Acquire to Retire and PPE Processes. 
•    Prepare journal entries, financial analysis, reporting and footnotes related to capital assets under US GAAP and IFRS.
•    Oversee and manage the PPE impairment review process.  
•    Analyze trends and provide insight into financial activities and future transactions within the Acquire to Retire processes.
•    Partner with Finance, FP&A, Enterprise Business Services (EBS), and Operations to ensure transparency of financial results and assist in decision making process.
•    Proactively identify areas of improvements and collaborate with others to implement changes.
•    Develop and execute corrective measures and controls that enhance and improve the timeliness and quality of financial results.  
•    Research and analyze key themes and transactions from a wide range of data sources to identify the accounting and financial impact of different scenarios on the business.  
•    Develop expertise and relationships that contribute to the identification and formulation of objectives to drive change and innovation within National Grid.  
•    Assist in the development and enhancement of policies, procedures, and job aids.  
•    Mentor and review junior team members’ work as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in Accounting or Finance with increasing responsibility
  • Strong planning, organizational, and project management skills, with good attention to details
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder holder management skills
  • US GAAP, IFRS, SOX and FERC knowledge
  • Accounting and financial close process knowledge
  • Reconciliation and governance experience
  • Data collection, data analytics, and reporting skills
  • Ability to translate accounting conclusions to business outcomes
  • Advanced skills with financial systems and visualization tools (e.g. SAP, BI, PowerPlan, Power BI) preferred
  • CPA or equivalent international accounting license (or license candidate) preferred
  • Utility accounting and finance experience preferred
