National Grid is hiring a Senior Data Analyst for our Finance Data Management team in Brooklyn, NY.
A Data Analyst is a business facing data practitioner based in the business. They will work with the business area data steward(s) to gather requirements about data quality. They will use the requirements to create data quality scores by applying those business rules to the production data. The analyst will then assist the business to monitor the quality of the business data.
- Will translate business data quality requirements into the relevant form for use by both business and technical teams.
- Is responsible for a range of data activities including data lineage, building and developing data quality rules, analyzing data quality results, capturing business data requirements, populating the business data glossary and maintaining data models.
- Provides proactive knowledge transfer and support to their business SMEs (Data Owners or Stewards).
- Ensures data is managed in accordance with the Data Management Standard, principles and guidelines
- Ensures controls and other mechanisms are in place to support the managed data in Finance
- Champion and communicate the criticality of data and Data Management
- Escalate issues to Data Owners when needed, or when strategic data decisions need to be made within Finance
- Collaborates with functional area Data Stewards to resolve cross functional data issues
- At least 2-3 years of experience with Business Intelligence tools
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferred in Information Systems
- Knowledge of MS Office Suite
- Good working knowledge of Finance.
- Good understanding of Finance data and business process relationships
- Understands data pain points within Finance and can lead data quality initiative to address them proactively
- Effective at issue resolution
- Knowledge of database query tools
- Passion for data and data enabled business process improvements
- Strong analytical skills; ability to work cross-functionally
- Good communicator
- Degree standard or equivalent experience
- Valid driver's license

- Membership of a professional body but if the candidate can demonstrate adequate experience and knowledge required this may be acceptable
