National Grid is hiring a Senior Analyst for our Finance Excellence department in Brooklyn, NY.

Job Purpose

Finance Excellence, Snr. Analyst, Risk, Control and Compliance is responsible for supporting controls advisory activities in developing and implementing guidance, support and education of controls initiatives across the first line of defence (control owners) in the US business.  Supports delivery of the annual SOx program, controls initiatives, business projects, and coordination of remediation plans for financial and non-financial controls. Escalates issues as appropriate.

Reports to the Manager, Risk, Control and Compliance, and is accountable for assisting in the identification and proper documentation of financial controls

Key Accountabilities
  • Participates in the delivery of advisory and consultative services to process and control owners on the design and implementation of controls to support the internal control framework.
  • Executes the strategy to evaluate and assess control dependencies, helps resolve known issues and aids in the identification of areas of focus to ensure an adequate control environment.  Includes providing guidance to less experience team members.
  • Supports the first line to define dependencies, helps resolve known issues and aids in the identification of areas of focus to ensure an adequate control environment.
  • Partners with the Manager, Risk, Control and Compliance to execute internal controls strategies and monitor compliance.
  • Executes internal control focused reviews and assist in maintaining and updating key controls documentation.
  • Supports first line’s efforts for controls rationalization, consolidation and automation.
  • Partners with other areas within Finance to aid in the implementation of controls for existing process and new projects.
  • Supports delivery of training plan to build knowledge and understanding of risks and controls.
  • Identifies control and process gaps and escalate issues to the Manager, Risk, Control and Compliance.   
  • Participates in risk assessments as required.
Qualifications

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Financial control identification
  • Risk management
  • Good understanding of IT general and infrastructure controls (for ITGC Snr. Analyst)
  • Controls and financial audit
  • End-to-end control documentation
  • IFRS, US GAAP, SEC and SOX requirements and FERC and other regulatory requirements

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred with a minimum of 3 years in finance roles with increasing responsibility; previous experience in Internal Controls or Audit
  • Experience in documenting process or controls
  • Knowledge of process management and audit practices
  • Excellent written / oral communication skills, follow-up, and negotiation skills
