National Grid Corporate Indirect Tax Department consists of several functions including the Indirect Tax Compliance group for which this intern position exists.  You will have the opportunity to work with the Director, Managers and Analysts in the group. Working in the Compliance group will provide tremendous learning opportunities for an enthusiastic student eager to advance in business and taxation.  The position will also enhance your knowledge about various federal and state tax laws and will provide you a great chance to understand the fundamentals of the US tax system and obligations as it relates to the company’s filings.  You will have the opportunity to collaborate with other members in the Tax team and to participate in the Tax department and company's meetings, events and training.  Every day, we operate to deliver a safe and secure service to our customers and as an employee of National Grid, you will be introduced to many of the company’s facets including a sustainable future for our utility industry.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities Include, but not limited to:

  • Log and distribute tax department mails
  • Manage indirect tax group mailbox
  • Update variance tax forms and exemption certificates and respond to requests from internal and external parties
  • Maintain indirect tax calendar and keep track of external and internal due dates
  • Assist in responding to federal, state and local tax notices
  • Assist in the preparation tax data to support indirect tax compliance and reconciliation
  • Research and support indirect tax audit
  • Other tax administrative tasks to assist the tax team as needed
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Accumulated 18 or more credits. At least 3 credits in taxation.
  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Accounting and/or Taxation.
  • Basic understanding of accounting, business and finance principles.
  • At least junior staus in an undergraduate program or enrollment in a graduate program.
  • Can commit to work 20 hours a week during the school year.
  • Authorized to work in the United States for the entire duration of the internship assignment.
