The New York Sr. Program Manager is a member of the Colleague Communications & Engagement team, a group responsible for helping to drive engagement, enablement and performance within the New York Business Unit employees by focusing on:
Ensuring awareness and understanding around National Grid’s vision, values and clean energy future.
Creating engaging content while increasing interaction and facilitating two-way conversations with our colleagues.
Advancing our culture shift by celebrating the teams and individuals who are putting values in action.
Creating company advocates, who support our brand externally and participate in shaping our future internally.
Support the strategy, messaging, writing and content creation to promote campaign-style communications for New York Employees.
Lead on identified campaigns – from strategy to execution to measurement – to build a steady drumbeat of communications collateral including written content, presentations, digital/intranet posts, and video/multimedia resources.
Uncover, write and promote success stories of employees, programs and customers that help to drive awareness, understanding and commitment to our purpose, vision and values.
Align and collaborate with key partner teams including the New England CCE team, Global CCE team, Corporate Affairs team for both NY and a limited number of US-wide comms programming, including initiatives related to change management, clean energy advances, crisis communications, diversity and inclusion, safety, and customer service.
Update and maintain New York content calendar weekly and assist with forward-looking strategic communications planning and implementation
Develop, implement and continuously improve end-to-end processes and procedures aligned with the CC&E model, including governance and measurement.
Participate as a team member to support storm restoration activity during major weather events, which can require working outside of regular business hours.
Provide support the following communication channels – with responsibilities to co-manage a specified number, which will determine based on the candidate:
Yammer (internal social media platform)
Printed and digital collateral
Digital monitors (TBD)
Other channels that may be developed for future use
Responsible for creating and/or supporting high-value content creation, including:
Stakeholder talking points
Lead on select video projects, including:
developing and managing the concept, script and logistics
vendor management, when necessary.
Deliver solid professional writing, with a proven ability to craft messages that can deliver clear, concise, effective communications to employees.
Think and advise strategically, to help simplify communication messages and connect the dots for employees.
Foster stakeholder relationships to enable greater collaboration and to ensure awareness, understanding and commitment to key programs, and work effectively across functions and teams.
Apply, or be willing to learn, change management principles to support the people-side of change communications and achieve the required business outcome.
Leverage strong organizational skills.
Think creatively to find new approaches outside of the standard ways of communicating.
Bachelor’s Degree in communications, public relations, journalism or related field.
3-4 years of demonstrated, direct experience in corporate communications, employee relations, public relations, change management, or related field.
Demonstrated ability to write clear, concise and engaging copy for internal audiences, including (but not limited to) content for various channels, fact sheets, white papers, executive speeches and presentations, employee newsletters, etc. Writing samples must be provided.
A self-starter not requiring daily direction, but can assess, plan and schedule work based on the needs of the team and our New York stakeholders. The successful candidate must have the ability to travel across the New York jurisdictional footprint and work remotely as needed.
Experience with Yammer needed, preferred experience managing a page and building campaigns/content for the channel.
Experience with change management is preferred
Experience in any or all of the following is preferred:
Experience in reputation management and emergency/crisis management
Experience with Office 365
Experience with graphic software such as Adobe a plus
The position requires extreme flexibility and the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, fluid environment.
