About the Position:

Finance Operations, Associate, FERC Accounting and Reconciliations performs standard accounting and reconciliation activities by reviewing, verifying and reconciling accounts.  Provides data entry and captures accounting transactions using financial systems.  Responsible for identifying and remediating accounting discrepancies to produce accurate and credible financial information. 

Reports to the Manager, FERC Accounting and Reconciliations is accountable for producing accurate and credible results for Finance Operations.



Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Collects, verifies, reconciles and enters updates to produce accurate and credible data.
  • Records and reconciles non-distribution revenue, A/R, bad debt reserve and bank reconciliations.
  • Assists in processing accounting transactions and ensures allocation to appropriate accounts for accurate and credible data.
  • Assists in month-end accounting close process to ensure timely, accurate and complete accrual of financial transactions.
  • Performs month-end accounting activities to ensure timely filing and account for any variances.
  • Reviews accounts and calculate financial adjustments and ensure proper account reconciliation.
  • Applies US GAAP and other accounting standards to reconciliation processes.
  • Assembles supporting documentation to ensure compliance with audits.
  • Compiles financial information to prepare financial statements including monthly and annual accounts.
  • Maintains financial records and complies with policies and procedures.
  • Maintains administrative support to meet financial filings and reporting deadlines.
  • Responsible for supporting financial and non-financial controls to meet business requirements.

Qualifications

Knowledge & Experience Required:





Knowledge & experience in the following areas is preferable:

  • General accounting.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Utility industry accounting.
  • Process centric operations.
  • US GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley and IFRS.
  • Process Management.
  • Month-end close processes.
  • Risk mitigation.

Qualifications Required:

  • Associate’s Degree preferred with limited to no experience in in accounting.
  • Knowledge of accounting system experience.
  • Demonstrated examples of attention to details.
  • Understanding of utility service business activities and projects.
  • Experience reviewing and resolving data discrepancies.
  • Ability to maintain filing and data.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written / oral communication skills, follow-up, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to build and develop teams of multi-skilled financial professional.
