National Grid is hiring a Manager, Electric Vehicle Charging, Project Manager for our Operations Support team located in Syracuse, NY; Albany, NY; Brooklyn, NY or Melville, NY.

Job Purpose

To launch and manage the National Grid Fleet EV Infrastructure plan for New York. This role will work across functions to deliver the EV Charging plan for National Grid locations.  This project manager will provide leadership and clear direction to project team and to be responsible for the planning, delivery, management, and governance of assigned projects in accordance with the National Grid project management processes and pricing and revenue requirements.

Key Accountabilities

  • Challenge project teams to ensure project scope, designs and delivery solutions are innovative, efficient, fit for purpose and prevent creep.
  • Lead a team and oversee a cross functional team to manage and deliver a project safely to time, cost and specification within governance requirements including project initiation documents, project execution plans and management of plans schedule, National Grid resources, budgets, quality and risks.
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and efficient resource utilization both throughout the department, the project team(s) and project support groups.
  • Manage all aspects of assigned project(s) including communications, team leadership, project scope, cost, quality, and risk management, compliant with environmental, safety and National Grid standards and policies.
  • Provide accurate and timely monthly project status reports covering milestone progress, risk management, current and forecast financial performance to ensure robust tracking and reporting against the long-term plan.
  • To manage projects within a business function utilizing all available resources and relationships.
  • To ensure predictable and unexpected complexities are effectively managed through stakeholder influence and management.
  • Manage dependencies, risks, plans, costs and resourcing for each project and dependencies across interlinked projects.
  • To ensure that the project offers a range of options and implements a change which achieves the objectives that have been set and that the business benefits are realized.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable interpersonal skills and influencing skills to manage relationships across the business to engage and work alongside business function leads to drive performance improvements
  • Team leadership skills and ability to create a high energy team climate whereby team members can discuss relevant issues freely and where there is a strong emphasis on continuous improvement.
  • Strong influencing, negotiations, presentation, interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact with company personnel, contractors, regulatory representatives, and town/city officials in a positive collaborative manner.
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5 years’ significant, relevant project management experience or equivalent
  • Certified project management professional preferred

Salary

$128k to $180k a year, Upstate NY

$152k to $215k a year, Downstate NY

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
